guys, guys

I suck at blogathons! :( Sorry. I tried my best.

In other news, I had an upsetting start to the morning as I read about sexism on the Internet; specifically, the recent hullabaloo over Anita Sarkeesian’s Kickstarter project about sexist tropes in video games. And, of course, as several sources reported, the hordes of trolls came rushing out of Mordor to threaten, demean, and taunt her for even attempting to voice an opinion about women and games. WARNING: TRIGGERS ABOUND in the news articles above.

The most depressing article I read was on The Mary Sue, mostly because the comments were full of women commiserating, talking about how hard it is to play online, and swapping tips on how to deal with comments like the usual, “Tits or GTFO,” and so on. Blergh.

From there, I link-hopped over to a CNN article about brogrammers.

The most hilarious part of the “brogrammers” article is when Path executive Matt Van Horn got some heat for bragging about sending  “‘bikini shots’ from a ‘nudie calendar,’” he backtracked and said:

…the calendar he mentioned was, in fact, a college charity project to aid tsunami victims in Southeast Asia and featured both male and female models.

Nice try, bro.

Basically:

On a happier note, BF and I are planning to run away for a month to New Orleans. It will be a working vacation full of brainstorming and booze, or something like that. More brainstorming than booze, hopefully.

I’m just trying to chug through the rest of my June projects in the meantime, and hoping that nothing goes horribly awry. I badly need to get away for a little bit, so I think the change of scenery will do me good.

Speaking of change, I dyed my hair purple!

Finally. My dreams of being an anime character have been realized.

Plz to ignore the scruffiness of my hair; I’d just gotten out of the shower.

It’s so early! Wake me up when it’s July.

this isn’t as perverted as it sounds

(Backstory: Shoegaze humps me randomly sometimes. It’s an annoyance. For example:

Me, cutting vegetables, being productive: Ladeeda~
Shoegaze, ambushes: A-HA! starts humping
Me: … Why me?

or

Me, putting on shoes, minding own business: Ladeeda~
Shoegaze, ambushes: A-HA! starts humping
Me:
… Are you quite done?

And so on and so forth. It’s not sexual at all, I promise.)

Shoegaze, crawls into bed: Ladeeda~
Me, crawls into bed with him, innocent eyes: Let’s chat.
Shoegaze: Go away. I’m napping.
Me, ambushes!, avenges!: A-HA! starts humping
Shoegaze:

Me: Don’t want to talk, eh?! THEN LET OUR BODIES DO THE TALKING. humping
Shoegaze:
Me: HIPS DON’T LIE, SHOEGAZE. still humping
Shoegaze: What the…  You know, you’re really bad at this.
Me, confused into cessation: What? What do you mean?
Shoegaze, explains: You have a weak hump. You can’t just start humping someone. It’s something that takes practice.
Me: … So, what you’re saying is… I need to level up?
Shoegaze, overly pedantic: Like me, for example. I hump you everywhere. Every opportunity. Every time.
Me: … So, what you’re saying is… I need more random encounters?
Shoegaze: Exactly.

-_- Do I need to join his party?

One of the more interesting games to look forward to in 2012 is The Witness

Made by the creator of Braid, there isn’t much known about The Witness so far, which perhaps makes it more intriguing. The game takes place on a randomly generated solitary island, where you go around, changing the environment and solving puzzles, which makes it sounds like sound like a mashup of Myst and Minecraft, but we’ll see.

The above video was taken by Kotaku at PAX this year, and contains a lot of non-final “programmer art”. You can also check out this video, showing a photo slideshow progression of how your island changes over time.

There’s no release date yet for The Witness. It was supposed to be out by the end of 2011, but that’s not going to happen.

Braid is an amazing game. I’ll be keeping my eye out for this one, as well.

Sonic Guys

Be mindful of your surroundings when showing these illustrations of the trio of Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic done by Demiurgic (a.k.a. beyx). I shared them with my friend and her high pitched scream that immediately followed nearly ruptured my eardrums.

This is the change Sonic needs

AHHHHHHHH.

Oh man, chibi Knuckles’ little frown!

Did you guys ever read the Knuckles spinoff comic? It was AMAZING for a while!
